Evolution

As with any new beginning in a new year many make resolutions. I prefer to look at them as evolutions. There are not things that I wish to change, but rather things in my life and self I look to improve. Some of them are silly things, some of them quite serious. But of all of these attempts at self-improvement I hope that each will make me a better person overall.

I think that perhaps we ought to all write a manifesto. A statement of who we are and what we wish to become in less than 100 words. (I was given this challenge and found it harder than I thought it would be a 100 words is not much to describe the values and thoughts I hold about myself.) Give it a try! Here is my manifesto!

I will take life in short bursts, never having been one for long term goals. I will accept challenges and opportunities with vigor. I will conquer my fears of failure. I will find fulfillment in accomplishments and have those selfish moments of egotistical boosts. I will take the time to spoil myself. I will buy better shoes. I will find happiness and joy in small pleasures. I will evaluate my past and be grateful for my present. I will live out my life in peace knowing that I have made my own choices, and not the repercussions of others stupidity. I will see myself as whole, not compartmentalized roles. I am the sum of my parts.
